Home studio and acoustic curtains
As the owner of a professional recording studio, where I am involved in both music production and the recording of audiobooks and voice-overs, I am constantly looking for ways to improve the acoustics of my space. One of the biggest challenges was the glass doors in the recording room and control room. These surfaces caused unwanted sound reflections that negatively affected the quality of the recordings. I purchased two pairs of DeNoise Pro 1550 curtains from Vocal Booth to Go, and I can confidently say that it was one of the best decisions I made for my studio.
The main reason for the purchase was the need to reduce sound reflection from the doors. Although I have treated the rooms with professional acoustic panels and bass traps from GIK Acoustics, the glass surfaces of the doors still posed a problem. The DeNoise Pro 1550 curtains solved this problem perfectly. Their ability to absorb sound and minimize reflections is impressive. Immediately after installation, the difference in the room's acoustics was noticeable. Vocal recordings are now cleaner, more precise, and free of distracting early reflections, which makes my post-production work much easier.
Although I primarily purchased the curtains for their acoustic properties inside the room, I was pleasantly surprised by their secondary effect—sound insulation from outside noise. Both sets of curtains cover the east-facing doors and do an excellent job of muffling outside sounds. For a studio where complete silence is key, this is a huge benefit. This additional soundproof barrier helps create a perfectly controlled recording environment, which is invaluable when recording sensitive passages of audiobooks or delicate vocal lines.
In addition to functionality, I must also highlight the quality of workmanship and overall appearance. The curtains are made of high-quality, heavy material, and the stitching is strong and precise. At first glance and touch, it is clear that this is a professional product that will last. They look very elegant and give the studio a professional look, which is a much more aesthetic solution than temporarily covering the doors with blankets. As an added bonus, the curtains block out external light perfectly, which helps to maintain a consistent atmosphere in the room and prevents distractions from outside. It was a significantly simpler and more cost-effective alternative to replacing the entire door with an acoustically modified one.
All in all, the DeNoise Pro 1550 curtains exceeded my expectations in every way. They are multifunctional products that solve several problems at once – from absorbing reflections to sound insulation and blocking light. For anyone who is serious about sound quality, this is an investment that will pay for itself many times over. I highly recommend them.
