A soundproof booth gives you a quiet space inside an ordinary room: the outer panels contain mass-loaded vinyl that blocks sound in both directions, and the acoustic lining inside removes echo. Choose it when noise must stay out of your recordings, or when your singing and playing must not reach the neighbours. Our SPB booths reduce noise by 32 dB in the mid range with a single wall and by 38 dB with a double wall; the Aura 100 by about 30 dB in the speech range.
This is the question we hear most often. An acoustic booth (AVB, EchoFree, VOMO) absorbs echo, so your recording sounds dry, but it reduces noise by only up to about 10 dB – the neighbours will still hear you and street noise still gets in. A soundproof booth adds a heavy noise-blocking layer to the walls. If the only problem is the echo of the room, an acoustic vocal booth is enough; if the problem is noise – your own or someone else's – you need a soundproof booth. More in our article on the difference between soundproof booths and acoustic booths.
Both keep noise in and out; they differ in construction and size:
Loud instruments need space and the strongest walls: for drums or a piano choose a 200×200 cm double-wall booth (SPB66D). Low frequencies – bass and kick drum – are the hardest to stop in any booth, so expect them to become much quieter, not inaudible.
Soundproof booths are sealed and have no built-in fan: open the door between takes, or add our optional fan with a silencer. Check your ceiling height: SPB33 and SPB63 are 200 cm tall and SPB66 230 cm – allow a few extra centimetres for assembly – while the Aura gives you about 195 cm of headroom inside. A sealable opening lets you run cables in without letting sound out.
SPB booths travel on a pallet and are delivered to the kerb or the ground floor; the bags are heavy, so plan for two people, and assembly also takes two. The Aura comes on a pallet or in parcels of up to 30 kg. Every booth comes with assembly instructions and a video.
Answers to the questions customers ask us most often about soundproof booths.
Can I sleep in a soundproof booth?
No – the booths are sealed and not ventilated for long stays. For a quieter bedroom, see our soundproof curtains.
Will my neighbours still hear me?
Much less: a double-wall SPB reduces sound by 38 dB in the mid range. Very loud bass and drums remain partly audible.
Can I take the booth with me when I move?
Yes. All our booths can be taken apart and set up again.
Can I return it?
Booths can be returned within 30 days of delivery; the return shipping is paid by the customer.
