Ceiling acoustic blankets

What are ceiling acoustic elements?

Ceiling acoustic blankets are specially designed panels made from unique sound-absorbing materials. Unlike full-surface suspended ceilings, they are suspended vertically from the ceiling. Thanks to this flexibility, they can be shaped and installed at various intervals to create both attractive and acoustically functional designs. Their main purpose is to absorb sound waves reflecting off the ceiling, thereby significantly reducing the overall reverberation time and noise level in the room.

Maximizing efficiency through proper installation

The efficiency of these elements depends not only on the material but also on how they are installed. Leave an air gap of a few centimetres between the blanket and the ceiling (or wall) – in the laboratory measurement the material hung about 7.5 cm from the surface. A single layer then reaches a weighted sound absorption coefficient of αw = 0.75 according to EN ISO 11654 and absorbs over 85 % of the sound from 500 Hz upwards; stretched tight against the ceiling it absorbs less in the bass. Two layers one behind the other, or a blanket hung in deep folds, absorb even more – both reach αw = 1.00, the highest possible value.

An investment that delivers audible results

Whether you are a professional or an amateur looking to take your sound quality to the next level, acoustic blankets and slats are a smart investment. They offer a highly effective and affordable alternative to traditional acoustic treatments. Their ability to transform an empty, echoing room into a space with clear and controlled sound makes them the ideal choice for anyone who takes sound quality seriously.

Flexibility as the main advantage

One of the greatest advantages of acoustic blankets is their exceptional flexibility. They allow for easy covering of the ceiling, and by slightly sagging the blanket, air pockets are created that further improve sound absorption. Unlike acoustic foam, there is no need to permanently glue anything to the wall. The panels can be easily hung, moved, or removed, making them an ideal solution for both temporary and permanent installations.
